The Secret Powers of Herbs

A unique experience in the Heart of Slovenia, offered exclusively by herbalist Jožica Bajc Pivec, a bearer and interpreter of intangible cultural heritage. The program includes a five-senses experience of nature and plants, with a special focus on medicinal and magical plants. Visitors see, smell, touch, taste, and hear the plants in the herbal garden.

The 3-hour guided experience includes:

A welcome reception – a short presentation of the homestead, a walk through the garden and “searching” for herbs, getting to know the plants through all five senses, gathering herbs, and moving to the social area, where participants are welcomed by a lit fireplace and fresh tea.

Participants learn about the uses and effects of herbs. They create their own smudging herb bundle and prepare an herbal spread, which they taste with homemade bread and homemade herbal syrup.

By prior arrangement with the herbalist, the second part of the experience takes place in one of two versions:

Option 1 – Participants prepare their own herbal stew using the gathered herbs and homegrown vegetables, and enjoy it with delicious homemade bread.

Option 2 – Participants make dough for herbal cookies, bake them, eat some on-site, and take some home.

Each participant also takes home a handmade tea cup.

The guided experience is available year-round, adapted to the season, for groups of 2 to 10 people.
