In the new programming period 2021-2027, the LAG Heart of Slovenia is also organised as a local contractual partnership, established with the aim of promoting an integrated and balanced development in the Heart of Slovenia area following a bottom-up approach.
On 12 March 2015, 39 representatives of public institutions, companies, associations, institutions, organisations and individuals from the municipalities of Dol pri Ljubljani, Kamnik, Litija, Lukovica, Moravče and Šmartno pri Litiji formally established the Local Action Group Heart of Slovenia for the first time at the Geometric Centre of Slovenia by signing a consortium agreement, and in 2023 the LAG entered the third programming period of its operation. Membership in the LAG is open to all interested residents of the Heart of Slovenia area who wish to contribute with their ideas and knowledge to the development of rural areas and a better quality of life.
