Project Description:
The DOT.Rural project focuses on the digital transformation of rural tourism, aiming to strengthen the digital competences of destination management organizations (DMOs) and local rural tourism providers. The goal of the project is to help tourism stakeholders use modern digital tools for more effective promotion, improved visitor experience, and, in the long term, to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of their destinations.
Main project activities include:
- Establishing a User-Scrutiny Panel consisting of 30 destination managers (DMOs);
- Conducting analyses and mapping of tourist areas to identify digital needs and opportunities for rural tourism development;
- Preparing a series of webinars and workshops to exchange good practices among European regions;
- Developing digital training modules on topics such as digital marketing, websites, social media, booking systems, and the use of artificial intelligence in tourism;
- Creating a multilingual online platform with a digital library of resources and guides to support stakeholders in their digital transition;
- Organizing a Rural Tourism Experience Festival, which will showcase innovative and sustainable approaches in tourism.
The project aims to strengthen rural tourism through the use of digital tools and to empower local rural tourism providers with new knowledge and skills essential for success in today’s tourism environment.
