Hiking the Jablanica trail

The starting point can also be reached by train to Litija and then by bus to Zg. Jablanica. The 18 km long route leads from the fire station past St. Ana’s Church along a track to Jablaniške Laze. It continues along the asphalt road through the village of Bukovica, crosses the road and continues through the forest towards the hamlet of Prelesje. After crossing a hill with a magnificent view of Triglav, you reach the checkpoint, the Pr’ Kavc farm, which is in the middle of the trail. After a rest, turn towards Mamolj to the Church of St. Janeza Krstnika (St. John the Baptist Church).

The trail continues along the road and turns left into Čebelnik. Close the pasture gate behind you to keep the goats in their pen. When the path rejoins the road, soon turn left onto the forest path towards the hamlet of Zelenec. In Dobovec, you will have a beautiful view towards Vače and the Kamniško-Savinja Alps in the background. When you reach the village of Gradišče pri Litija, you will climb up to the Church of St Magdalene and then around the hill to the village, where you can take advantage of the hospitality of the farms. As we descend into the valley, we take a walk through time at the Samec Homestead of memories. After a 3 km forest trail, passing the most photographed farm Pr’ Skebet, we return to the starting point in Zgornja Jablanica.
