At Dole pri Litija, where the ancient tradition of charcoal-making is still alive, you can see for yourself how the wood is turned into charcoal in the pits. You can experience how the pile is made and the life of a charcoal-making family at individual charcoal farms. At any time, you can go for a walk on your own or with a guide along the marked (Charcoal Route) Oglarski poti, which also leads past Valvasor’s hunting lodge in Zavrh. On the third Saturday in May, a hike is organised along (the Charcoal Route) Oglarski poti, and on the second Saturday in September, you can learn about charcoal-making at the traditional ethnological and ethnographic event ‘Oglarska dežela’ (Charcoal Land).
