The 6 km long panoramic circular route starts at the school in Javorje, where there is a plaque with an outline of the route, and mostly runs along the border area between the municipalities of Šmartno pri Litija and Ivančna Gorica. The trail offers beautiful views of Dolenjska and Zasavje, and in good weather the view extends from Triglav to Trdinov vrh and from Snežnik to Pohorje. Below the summit of Osrence, you will find the remains of a German observation tower, from which it was possible to monitor the wider surroundings. Along the way, there are also the remains of observation towers from the Second world war, as the route follows the so-called ‘Border guard track’, which was used by German soldiers during the Second world war to guard the border between the then German and Italian occupation zones. The Javorje panorama trail is suitable for walking in all seasons and for all ages. It can be walked in just over an hour and a half and is marked with neat wooden signs.
There are benches at the viewpoints, where it is worth listening to the birds singing or simply enjoying the silence.
