To the heart of Slovenia

Route:

Litija–Ponoviče–Sava–Vače–Klenik–GEOSS– Slivna–Vače–Ponoviče–Litija

Route description:

You start your cycling trip in the centre of Litija, cross the bridge over the Sava River and immediately at the crossroads turn right in the direction of Ponoviče along the left bank of the Sava River. When you arrive in the village of Sava, immediately at the beginning of the village turn left towards Zasavska Sveta Gora. About halfway up, turn left for Vače, a popular excursion point. You can cycle on to the Geometric Centre of Slovenia (GEOSS) and then on to Zgornja Slivna, where there is a lookout point at the Church of St Neža. On the way back, follow the main road through Vače towards Hotič, where about 300 m further from Vače, at the large house and outbuilding on the left, turn left towards Boltija. After a short climb over a saddle, descend towards Ponoviče. In Ponoviče, turn right and finish the trail in Litija.

Suitable for families:

The route to the heart of Slovenia is less suitable for family cyclists, as it is quite challenging. Only the stretch from Litija to the village of Sava, which runs along the left bank of the Sava River, is easy. We suggest returning along the same route.
