At Neudorf or Zavrh, located in the western part of the Posavje hills near Dol pri Litija, a preserved statue of St. Rok, a restored knight’s and hunter’s room and the remains of a tunnel that is said to have led from the castle to the Sopota valley remind visitors of the former times of nobility.
The manor was considered the second seat of the Valvasors, a famous family who, in addition to the Neudorf manor, also owned a mill in the Sopota valley. Janez Vajkard Valvasor, a polymath and author of The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola, who lived in the 17th century, brought his noble coat of arms to the manor. In the 20th century, during the Second World War, the inhabitants of Zavrh were expelled and many valuables disappeared from the manor. The legacy is now preserved by the heirs of Franca Bostiča, who bought the estate at the beginning of the 19th century. Guided tours are possible by prior arrangement.
