The Badjura circular trail was officially opened in 1974. It is named after Rudolf Badjura (1881-1963), who was born in Litija. Badjura devoted his whole life to tourism, but his love was skiing. He wrote several mountain-tour guides and a handbook called The skier.
The trail runs along the most beautiful hills in the surrounding area and surrounds the municipalities of Litija and Šmartno pri Litiji. The trail’s checkpoints are Ostrež nad Renkami, Velika Preska, Javorje pri Javorskem pilu, Tisje, Bogenšperk, Javorje, Pristava nad Stično, Obolno, Janče, Cicelj, Miklavž, Spodnja Slivna – GEOSS, Vače, Slemšek and Zasavska Sveta gora. It is one of the mountain resorts registered with the Slovenian Mountaineering association. The route is easy and about 100 km long. The order and directions of the checkpoints can be chosen by each hiker. The hiker confirms his/her visit to the checkpoints in a diary, which can be bought at some of the stops or at the office of the Litija Mountain society. A properly filled in diary will result in a commemorative badge, and special plaques for repeated hikes.
SPECIAL WARNING: The trail from Renke to Rovišče is closed due to the bridge closure in Renke. The detour is possible via the village of Sava.
